A Sail Across the Bay with Deb and Family

 

First, I'll note that Vicky is back in the USA... she will actually appear in one photo, but since she got home early Friday morning and is still on China time, she spent a good bit of the day on Saturday down below, sleeping.

I woke her up Friday evening right as I was finishing work and we made it to Rock Hall just as the sun finished setting.  I let her sleep Saturday morning and swabbed the deck one more time, so Seas The Day is "George clean" not "Vicky clean".

Deb, her husband, Nathan, and children Brian and Marianne, arrived around 11:00 AM and we quickly got underway, motoring south after exiting Swan Creek until we reached the #3 buoy.

We motored across to Baltimore Light... there wasn't a lot of wind early in the morning and we wanted to ensure we made it across to Eagle Cove and the horse farm.  We stopped briefly at Baltimore Light for some photos.  It was looking spectacular after its recent renovation.  

From there we went through the straight into the Magothy River and up around Gibson Island.  We had promised a horse farm!

Brian is at that stage where we have to take a crazy photo first.

I'll let the photos tell the rest of the story... we headed back out of the Magothy and then set sail for Rock Hall.  We sailed on the return trip, having a steady but light breeze from the south and a nice beam reach back across the bay to the eastern shore and Rock Hall.

Once the sails were set and we realized we wouldn't be leaning too much, a card game broke out.

I spent the evening enjoying the breeze while siting in the cockpit and writing this blog post.  Tomorrow is an early departure to introduce Vicky to the little one.

Vicky joined me around 9:00 PM and we just enjoyed the evening.  It’s great to have her back on board!

On Sunday, we left Rock Hall early and headed north to introduce Vicky to Levi.  Additional sailing will have to wait.

A Quick Daysail on a Cloudy Day

A nice flat day on the bay... just enough wind to sail.

 

This weekend, Saturday was a rainy day.  So I headed north to visit the Little One.

Sunday looked to be a pleasant day so down to Rock Hall, I went.

The first order of business was to do this year's propane safety check.  I had tried this last week, but carried out the procedure wrong and thought I had some issues, so a recheck was in order.  The procedure is to ensure the tank is closed, open the safety selenoid, ensure all the stove/oven controls are turned off and then presssurize the system for a quick moment and shut off the propane tank.  Then I took the photo on the left.  After 15 minutes, I took the photo on the right.  No change in pressure means the system is leak free!

After the pressure check was completed, I did a quick oil check and headed out.

It was a very cloudy day... especially a series of dark clouds hanging out over Rock Hall all day.  The bay was quite flat... light winds... temps in the high 60s and low 70s.

After a few hours, I headed back and encountered Shardana heading out with her guests for the day.
