Sailing with Greg & Judy

Yesterday was a simple excursion with friends Greg and Judy.  Judy was our Realtor when we moved to Delaware and her and her husband, Greg, have become good friends with Vicky and me.  We have been talking about having them come join us on Seas The Day for a while and the stars finally aligned yesterday.

It was an extremely pleasant day with only moderate traffic.  We made it to KYC and lugged the HUGE lunch spread Judy had prepared aboard Seas The Day.  Then we headed out to the #1 buoy where we hauled out the Mainsail and Genoa, then sailed across the bay until we crossed the main channel.  From there I did a controlled jibe and we sailed farther into the bay and got ready for lunch.

Judy had prepared an incredible spread, complete with nice dishes.  We started off with an appetizer of smoked salmon and egg spread on some really nice crackers.  She also told me she prepared zongzi (Judy makes great zongzi)

But... as we were eating the appetizer, I noticed that I was eating while the two of them stopped.

They were feeling the motion a bit.  So I quickly ate my zongzi, then ran below and grabbed the SeaBands (small wrist acupressure bands).  The bands, some ginger gum and having them look at the horizon calmed things down and we were able to enjoy a nice day.  Eventually, both took turns at the helm and we slowly made our way back to KYC.

I need to make a mental note to change my "If you come sailing with us" instructions to note that there is no need to try and "tough it out"... if you're feeling motion, ask for the SeaBands - we have a whole mess of them onboard, so there's no need to feel bad.  (We also have plates with non-skid bottoms.)

After taking the launch back to KYC, we had our normal end-of-cruise drinks, took some photos and headed over to Neil Michael's Steakhouse for an end-of-cruise feast!
