Winter Check-Ins

Rather than have several blog posts, I'll just add to this one each month.

January 7th

We popped down to Rock Hall to check in on Seas The Day.  Her winter cover had been installed since our last check so everything seems well secured for her winter sleep.

February 11

I went to Rock Hall to check in on Seas The Day.  All seemed well.  I worry that she's a bit far back in the pack.  I had to pick my way through a sea of boats to find her.

I hope that Gratitude honors the April 1st launch date.

Note that the weight of the boat rests on her keel (on wood blocks)
The Jack stands are in place to keep her from tipping over.

March 12

We had a "Change of Watch" dinner with the ABCW group which was held at the Shaffers Canal House in Chesapeake City.  Since that brought us part-way down to Rock Hall, we decided it would be a nice day (we just moved to DST) to ride there and check in on Seas The Day.

It looks like the battery was being charged, or maybe some work taking place to get ready.

Ladder on the bow was probably to address issues they found with the jib furler.

There are still boats in our slip.

April 1

I went to Gratitude to check on Seas The Day and found her with her winter cover removed, the hull all waxed and shiny.  I couldn't tell if the bottom paint was finished... the bottom seemed darker, but there were places that made me thing it still had to happen.  The propeller was removed for reconditioning, so it looks like she will be splashing soon.

Once parking at Gratitude, I found her with much easier access... several boats had already been removed.

Seas The Day is the 2nd boat from the right.

Hull was clearly waxed with new bottom paint.
Here it looked like the bottom paint was done.

Here the bottom looks like it still needed another coat.
Propeller was removed for reconditioning.
The line cutter looks to be in good shape.

Other boats are still in her slip... hopefully soon.
