A Daysail with Fanny

So on July 27th, after two weeks without visiting Seas The Day, we were a bit worried about how much bird poo was on the boat.  My colleague, Fanny, was visiting again from Germany.  Since she was here for two weeks, we offered to take her sailing, but I made sure to prep her about the likelihood that we would be spending some time cleaning before we could set sail.

We had timed our excursion to allow us to go to the dock at high tide, so either way we planned on giving Seas The Day a quick scrub down.  It was a beautiful day as be boarded the launch to head out.

It turns out the yards and yards of bird tape (or the excessive heat) mostly worked.  I confirmed that our water pump had been replaced (it had) and we headed in towards the dock to clean.

Fanny is a great photographer and we have the BEST documentation of our cleaning skills ever!

Once clean, we took Seas The Day out for a nice afternoon on the water.  I'll let the photos tell the story.  I will note that Vicky is trying to condition me to being more used to people on the foredeck while underway.  She's especially good at picking times (like a visiting colleague) where I won't yell at her for being up there.

All trips end at the KYC bar!

Here's a few more of Fanny's photos from the day....

That's about it for this trip.  One interesting note is that the following Sunday morning (7/28 - starting in the wee hours), we made a trip back to NJ for a different kind of sailing... through the air in a hot air balloon with Jie and Tao.

Here are a half-dozen of the photos...

The rest can be found on my SmugMug site.
