June 2023 Vacation - Day 1 - Rock Hall

Regular readers - both of you - may notice that I didn’t post a “Day 0” post this time about our vacation preparations.  That’s simply because we didn’t really prepare.  After a week in Seattle, and a few weeks in China, one mad week of work, and a big wedding weekend, we both realized we were exhausted… and a bit cranky.  What very little prep we did took much longer than usual.  Eventually, we felt human again mid-morning on Wednesday and threw what food we could find in the house, clothing and a few misc items into the car and headed to Rock Hall.

Where we discovered that the fridge wasn’t quite closed (no one to blame but me on that one), and we had to do a quick defrost and restart.

This was followed by Boatus Cleanus emerging.  Seas The Day will look wonderful for the cruise.

We then headed in to dinner at the Harbor Shack to find they weren’t open until Thursday, so dinner was at The Blue Heron (Wednesday is Crab Cake Night).

A quick trip to Bayside Market got us reasonably provisioned for the next few days and then we returned to take care of garbage, recycling, water tanks, and updating the maps and firmware.

Followed by lounging in the cockpit for the evening.

Tomorrow is an early morning departure to travel 40nm south to anchor with our friends at the ABC-Wilmington cruise in Dun Cove.

We hear there are dolphins in the Chester River area the past few days, so we will keep our fingers crossed.
