Today is the day we would part ways with the ABCW club and headed south to Herrington Harbor South marina.
We started with me working from the cockpit on reading and blog writing. The view, however, was much different that yesterday... we were in a working marina at Port Annapolis and Seas The Day was at the close end of D-dock where all the large catamarans were being worked on (and next to the slips where the big cranes lift the boats out of the water.
An industrial looking view today. |
This End Up furniture (or a knock off)? |
The bakery wonderful... I had a breakfast egg/bacon/cheese sandwich which was a perfect mess to eat and then grabbed an iced cinnamon roll (which was also a complete mess to eat while sailing).
After breakfast I grabbed a few items from the ship's store. Then we said goodbye to our friends from the club and headed off.
Vicky wanted this photo of a yoga class on the dock. |
We passed Thomas Point Light and tried for another selfie, but the white of the walls was too bright for it to come out right.
We arrived at Herrington Harbor South right around 12:30 PM (about 2.5 hours) and after docking, we just took a nap. I had called Ketch 22, their restaurant, but was told no reservations were available. We headed over a bit before 4:00 to see if we could get seated and lucked out.
It was wonderful as usual... they make the best deviled eggs appetizer and we paired that with a wedge salad and our entrees (Vicky had fish and chips, I had salmon).
It was a wonderful (if early) dinner.
Back to the boat for a late afternoon nap and then we had some light snacks in the cockpit as the sun set.
The view from our bow... the pumpout boat... not the most pleasant. |

As we watched the sun set, we smelled a smokiness to the air. I think this is coming from wildfires in Canada (or else someone near me REALLY likes cigars). We spent the rest of the evening just lounging before turning in early.
We will head back across the bay tomorrow and anchor in the Wye river. We figure if we are just going to be sleeping on the boat, why not do it for free. If it gets too hot, then we'll run the generator and AC (yes, we will be THAT boat). This will put us in a good position to explore more of the Eastern Bay and maybe pop into St. Michaels for a night (or two). We expect essentially no wind for this distance of 24 nm... it should take maybe 4 hours.
